Jan Gets a Blog!
I realized one of my long-time goals and launched my Girl on the Go blog covering travel-related news, events in Atlanta and relationships. Check out other blogs from travelgirl contributors here.
Name That Penguin
It's a girl! The new baby penguin at the Tennessee Aquarium that is. Apparently it's not so easy to tell, and this baby, born on June 30, had to be DNA-tested to be sure. There's a contest to name the baby, starting Dec. 11 and ending Jan. 2. All who enter are eligible to win a trip to Chattanooga that includes overnight accommodations at the Chattanooga Marriot at the Convention Center and a family four pack of tickets to the local attractions. Mom and dad are named Biscuit and Blue. You can vote online at www.facebook.com/tennesseeaquarium or email email@example.com
Win a Trip to St. Simons
Win two round trip tickets for two from Atlanta, a rental car, two nights at The King and Price Beach & Golf Resort and a round of golf. Just become a fan of Getaway to St. Simons Island on Facebook and you're entered to win. You have until the end of the month to enter - the winner will be announced December 31 at noon. What a perfect way to start off the new year!
Napa Restaurant Month
Forget those diets - head to Napa Valley during January for special menus and dining opportunities at more than 30 restaurants. How about a three-course meal at Bouchon for $25; a three-course dinner at Mustards Grill for $32.95 or three-course lunch at Bottega for $54? And many restaurants are offering selections on their wine lists for half off. Check out these and other offers at www.legendarynapavalley.com
Pick of the Week
I've recently discovered the wacky, fun world of #TNI, a Tweet-up held every Thursday at #TNI by the Zip Set Go Girls with travelers around the world answering questions, offering tips and posting hilarious photos. Now several of these have been compiled into a book, with categories such as City Travel, Foodie Travel and Adventure Travel. Read funny, informative answers to questions such as "What is the most daring thing you've done while traveling?" and "What is your to-go food at airports?" Makes a great gift for any traveler. $14.95 at http://bit.ly/gxzaHz
