Jan Gets a Blog!
I realized one of my long-time goals and launched my Girl on the Go blog covering travel-related news, events in Atlanta and relationships. Check out other blogs from travelgirl contributors here.

Pick of the Week

The 36 hours column in the New York Times is one of my favorites – now you can get 150 weekends in the U.S. and Canada in this new book "The New York Times 36 Hours." Who knows, you may even learn about some fun things in your own city. Buy a copy for yourself and anyone on your list who loves to travel. $26.39 at amazon.com.

Glorious Gifts

I totally fell in love with this adorable suitcase for $124 from the awesome site Unique Vintage. This suitcase would make me smile even if I wasn't packing it for a trip. For plenty more gifts that we love check out our online gift guide. I know my son is going to love the talking bacon from ThinkGeek. We had so many unique things this year we couldn't fit them all in the magazine. ONLINE GIFT GUIDE

Carnival Cruising

I'm writing this from cabin 8384 of the beautiful Carnival Liberty, which is rolling out some of the features of Carnival's half a billion dollar Fun Ship 2.0 initiative to add new customer experiences to its ships. I've spent a lot of time in one of my favs — the Alchemy Bar, where pharmacy meets cocktail. Pick one of their concoctions or tell the bartender what ails you and let them create one just for you. For Aspiring Astronauts

Offered September 17-26, 2012, the Inside the Russian Space Program 2012 will have you witnessing the launch of the Soyuz spacecraft in a VIP area, exploring the MIR Space Station simulator and learning how crews walk in space. Optional experiences include training like an astronaut with a ride on the world's largest centrifuge, a zero gravity flight and wearing a Orlan space suit created for spacewalks.
