Jan Gets a Blog!
I realized one of my long-time goals and launched my Girl on the Go blog janschroder.com/blog/ . I'm posting three times a week, covering travel-related items on Mondays, events in Atlanta on Wednesdays and whatever I feel like on Fridays. Check out this Friday's entry on best and worst gifts ever. Just one example: a Thighmaster and breast enhancement pills.

Stage Your
Own Bed-in
It's been 40 years since John and Yoko staged a bed-in at The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montreal to promote peace, grabbing worldwide attention as journalists gathered bedside and John wrote "Give Peace A Chance." The anniversary is commemorated in the free exhibition Imagine: John & Yoko's Pacifist Anthem at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, on view from April 2 to June 21, 2009. The Fairmont's Imagine Package includes one-night stay, a CD with the song and breakfast in bed or at the buffet. Rates start at $199 a night, or for $599 a night you can stay in the John and Yoko suite. www.fairmont/com/queenelizabeth.

World's Oldest Showgirl Still Dancin'
I just loved this story – 85-year-old Dorothy Dale Kloss just made it into the Guinness World Records 2009 editon for being the world's oldest still-performing showgirl. Dorothy, who started dancing at the age of 15 at the Empire Room of the Palmer House in Chicago, has tap danced at the Follies in Palm Springs for the past 14 years. She was hired at the age of 71 from an audition tape. You go, girl! To view a video of Dorothy on the Today Show, click here: http://www.psfollies.com/pr/video.php
zip it up
I so could have used this wallet on our recent Caribbean cruise, where I was the official keeper of the passports for four people. This roomy wallet holds several passports and zips up for additional security. And the wallets from Kena Kai have an "electromagnetically opaque sleeve," which means your credit cards are safe from any tricksters trying to steal your identity in an evil wireless way. This Italian leather wallet is $79.99 at www.kenakai.com
