Created by Dr. Geoffrey Alan Gray, the Talus Heelbed is designed to make our sexy shoes more comfortable to wear. We all know we aren't really supposed to wear high heels, right? Place these inserts in your favorite heels and your weight is shifted more towards the back and off the ball of the foot, easing foot pain. Available in several colors for $19.95 at www.heeluxe.com
See Rock City
If your memories of Rock City, that kitschy tourist attraction in Chattanooga, TN, are like mine, they involve gnomes, Fat Man's Squeeze and Lover's Leap. But there's a lot more going on these days. The New Binkley Brothers have been performing their Southern Appalachia folk music at concerts and at Fireside Nights, and several local artists are displaying commissioned art along the Enchanted Trail. Pictured is Isaac Duncan's Perched Raptor. (photo by Doug Barnette) www.barnettephotography.com. And yes, the gnomes are still there.
Down on the Farm
Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands is one of the most charming places I've visited, with the food being one of the highlights. Find out for yourself at A Taste of the South November 11, presented by the Inn as part of Highlands 5th Annual Culinary weekend. Enjoy music, food and mingling with local farmers and producers at the new Farm Pavilion at Old Edwards.
