Eat, Pray, Love Our Neighborhoods
In Chicago that is. Get a free ebook by that name that covers more than 2000 attractions in a town that's been called "The City of Neighborhoods." Research teams from Explore Chicago [www.explorechicago.org] visited all the sights to capture each one of these neighborhoods. The book also has essays from award-winning journalist Alan Solomon and is available in soft cover as well for $58 from Lulu.com. Click here to get your free downloaded copy.
Travel with Top Chef Fan Favorite
"Top Chef" fans like me will remember the red-bearded, pork-loving Chef Kevin Gillespie from the previous season. The owner and chef at Woodfire Grill [www.woodfiregrill.com] in Atlanta, he has joined with Tammy Zacks of Travel by Design [ www.travelbydesigninc.com] for "A Taste of Austria with Chef Kevin." An intimate group of travelers will explore Vienna, neighboring wine regions and Budapest. The trip includes a cooking class in Schoenbrunn Palace, visits to private wineries and meals at an array of restaurants. The trip is March 24 to March 31. Click here to find out more.
Your Own Pad
Begun during Fashion Week in New York as an amenity to keep guests informed of the latest news and events, a program from the Morgans Hotel Group is offering guests access to a custom iPad at its Royalton hotel. [www.royaltonhotel.com] The program will continue, with embellished content, for an indefinite time. The idea is that the iPads are an extension of their concierge program to tailor a guest's experience according to their personal preference. They can use the iPad to access hotel services, transportation options, maps and directions as well as links to media outlets.
