Jan Gets a Blog!

Where the Celebs Bed
Where does George Clooney stay when he's in New York? Well you can find out now at a new site, oyster.com, that lists hotels where you can find where specific celebs call it a night in New York, Miami and Las Vegas. Here are just a few: Sheryl Crow at Jumeirah Essex House; Justin Timberland at Delano Hotel in Miami and Brad Pitt at the Hard Rock in Vegas. The site has plenty more to offer travelgirls, from round-ups on best beaches, to best value hotels and plenty more. Check it out at www.oyster.com
Blue Ridge Turns 75
One of the most beautiful scenic roads in America turns 75 next year. This 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway runs through North Carolina and Virginia. Festivities to mark the event start November 13-14 in Cherokee and Asheville, North Carolina and end on September 11, 2010 in Cumberland Knob, North Carolina where it all began in 1935. The Parkway draws 17 million visitors a year, who drive along the gorgeous mountain road and can experience examples of Appalachian life with visits to log cabins and gristmills. Diving and Carving
I find it challenging enough to carve a pumpkin on my kitchen table, what with all the gooey innards and all, but these divers do it underwater! Amoray in Key West sponsors the annual contest for divers, who each pay the regular dive cost of $80, and use dive knives to cut up the pumpkins. The top three are awarded prizes. Last year 11-year-old Spencer Lambeth took home the top prize. For more information visit www.amoray.com
